VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATIONS:
I got hooked on this about twelve years ago. You pay money to take a week’s vacation helping others. Now before you say “Yeah..right!”, hear me out. The people you help are genuinely grateful for everything you do and for your being there, and most of us don’t get that level of appreciation during the average work day. You’ll go thinking you’re going to help others, but you’ll get more back than you could ever give. You get to see a different part of the world and experience local customs, foods and scenery, and at the end of the week, you’ll feel more invigorated than if you’d sat on a beach for seven or eight days. (Not that I would discourage that, either!)
