Clown

If you’d like to see QlownTown in your local paper, let your editor know. There’s nothing more encouraging to an editor thinking of putting a new cartoon in his or paper than to hear an existing reader request a particular strip…and if you can get friends and family to put a letter-writing campaign together, the chances for the strip being picked up will be even better.

Here are some ideas:

Writing a letter and mailing it is most effective, but emails and phone calls help, too. Be sure to include your name, address, e-mail address and phone number…and tell them why you need to see QlownTown in your paper. Also tell them which of the strips they’re currently running are your favorites. If you mention one that they’ve had a lot of positive feedback on, they’ll probably think that QlownTown might have the same appeal. (And if by some chance you’re suggesting that they stop carrying something else, explain why you’d prefer QlownTown.)

You can direct them to this web site, or ask them to contact the artist at dsmith-weiss@qlowntown.com.

You can generally get the contact information for the editor from your local newspaper itself or from their web site. They may not have an official “Comics Editor”, but you can ask for the person who handles the comic strips, and you’ll probably be directed to a Managing Editor or Features Editor.

You can find information on your local paper through these links:

http://www.ipl.org/div/news/browse/US/ (US newspapers)
http://www.ipl.org/div/news/browse/CA/ (Canadian newspapers)
http://www.ipl.org/div/news/ (World newspapers)

And if you like the strip that much, tell your friends. If you work with a customer you think might enjoy it, tell them, too---it’s a good way to generate good will. You can also help out by buying QlownTown merchandise. It makes a great gift, and we can do multiples of any item you like (except original artwork)!
